11 March,2016 The Directorate of Skill Development, Government of Tripura has signed an MoU with the Jawed Habib Hair and Beauty Ltd. & Indus Integrated Information Management Ltd (IIML) for sharing latest trends in smart technology in the Beauty and Wellness sector. "A tripartite MoU was signed through organizing workshop on “Skill Development and Opportunities in Tripura” at PragnaBhawan, Agartala today with an objectives to support the skill development training in Beauty and Wellness sector with help of Jawed Habib Hair and Beauty Ltd. Through this MoU Jawed Habib Hair and Beauty Ltd and IIIML shall endeavor to mobilize and impart training to around 1000 youth every financial year during this MOU tenure.

The MoU would be resulting in setting up an updated training environment in Apparel sector, which will further facilitate to train about 1000 candidates in Apparel sector as per the Industry demand in every financial year throughout the MOU tenure.
11 March,2016 The Directorate of Skill Development, Government of Tripura was today has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TATA Motors Limited (TML) & Indus Integrated Information Management Ltd (IIM) on Organizing workshop on “Skill Development and Opportunities in Tripura” at PragnaBhawan, Agartala. The purpose of this MOU is to support the skill development training in Automobile sector with help of Tata Motors' CSR program. The skills in Automobile sector are imparted by the reputed training agencies (IIIML) needs active participation of Industries like Tata Motors at all stages of training program to make them (a) Industry responsive (b) keep pace with technological advancements and(c) expanding its knowledge to produce improved workforce suitable for labour market emerging out of industrial scenario of the State. Focused Trades in Automobile sectors are Professional Driver Training, Denting and Painting and Diesel Mechanic Vehicle etc. .

11 May 2016 Directorate of Skill Development, Government of Tripura and Directorate of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of Tripura in association with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Govt. of India ) has organized a one-day conference on “North East Dialogue-Sports for Employment” The conference was the detailed about the demand –supply resources of the sports industry, job opportunities available in sports sector. North Eastern India has been a pioneer in sports sector traditionally, contributing many eminent sports personalities to the national and international sports fraternity in athletics, football, tennis, hockey, weightlifting, boxing, archery, gymnastics and adventure sports. It is important that key stakeholders in the industry and experts in India should work towards setting up a strong base in the region and it calls for a consultative process by means of a National Conference Series on Sports for Employment.
06 May 2016 Directorate of Skill Development, Government of Tripura in association with National Skill Development Agency (NSDA) has organized a one-day workshop on “Sensitization on National Skill Qualification Framework” on 6th May, 2016 at Hall No-3, PragnaBhawanAgartala.
The workshop was the detailed about to understand the concepts of level descriptors, to derive learning outcomes from the current curriculum and to fill up a qualification file for their current qualification to align them to National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF). In order to facilitate mobility from vocational to general education, and vice-versa, a qualification framework for India, i.e. NSQF will help make qualifications more understandable and transparent. Besides these, there are several other factors which necessitates the NSQF-
  • Need for outcome –based learning
  • Clearly defined progression pathways leading to horizontal and vertical mobility
  • Establishing equivalence of certificates/diplomas/degrees in different parts of the country
  • Recognition of prior Learning
  • Alignment with international standards
  • To build employers’ trust in training
  • To add credibility to vocational education

11 March 2016 Stressing the need for enhancing skills of the youth and encouraging entrepreneurship, a day-long workshop on 'Skill Development and Opportunities in Tripura' was organized recently by the Directorate of Skill Development, Government of Tripura in association with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The event was held at PragnaBhawan with an aim to bring closer multiple stake holders like trainees, training agencies and certifying agencies and remove disconnect between demand and supply of skilled manpower. Apart from state government's representatives, officials from the NSDC, renowned Indian hair stylist Jawed Habib; Vinod Kulkarni, Head of CSR Tata Motors; DrPriyaSomiya, Executive Director of Usha International Ltd; and KushalMitra, Director and CEO Indus were attended the workshop.
29 September 2015 With an aim to fulfill the growing need of India for skilled manpower across the sectors and narrow the existing gap between the demand and supply of skills, a workshop on Roadmap for Skill Development in Tripura” was held at PragnaBhawan on 29th September, 2015. The program mainly aims to integrate efforts of various departments of the State and Central Government organizations engaged in providing skill development training and make available employment oriented and placement linked training in vocational skills to youth in the age group of 14 to 35 years by 2016-17, and even at a greater pace thereafter, by partnering with Government and private training providers, while ensuring equitable access to the most disadvantaged, including women; and strive for placement of preferably of the trained youth in gainful wage and self-employment to enable them to contribute to the economic development of the State. The workshop also held a tie-up session which included interaction between all line departments of the State Governments, various Sector Skill Councils, NSDA personnel and training providers.
