According to the Human Resource development Department, Govt. of Tripura, the State has a total of 4628 schools, as of 31st March 2013, with 2423 primary schools, 1231 senior basic schools, 590 high-schools, 384 higher secondary schools and 180 madrassas in the State under School Education Department. As of 2015, the State has Twenty five (25) general colleges, Eight (8) technical colleges and Nine (9) professional colleges. The State also pioneers in Higher Education with the presence of premiere Universities like Tripura University and ICFAI University, National Institute of Technology.
The State has a total of 13 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), of which 12 are Government it is (belong to Department of Industries & Commerce) and 1 is a Private ITI, with a total seating capacity of 3056 and with a total of 110 courses being offered in the ITIs.
Beside this State has 6 Panchayati Raj Training Institute (belong to Panchayat Department) , 1 Rural Development Self Employment Training Institute (RUDSETI) and 4 Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) (1 with State Bank of India, 1 with Tripura Gramin Bank and 2 with United Bank of India) , Society for Entrepreneurship Development (SoFED), State Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development (SIPARD) which is having a capacity to conduct 6 -7 simultaneous training programs and also can provide for residential facility for 50 trainees, Construction Workers Training Institute, Khumulwng which is conducting residential training on two (2) trades currently.
Apart from this, State has National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT),Agartala, Bamboo And Cane Development Institute, Agartala, Rubber Board, National Small Industries Corporation Ltd. (NSIC), Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Forest Research Institute, Silk Board etc. which are imparting short term training programme.
